Series 2
Following international success, History’s Greatest Aircraft returns with 16 new episodes across two new seasons. The highly acclaimed series has been expanded to include a whole new breed of aircraft – as we move into the jet age. One of the series highlights is the incredible story of Americas F15 – arguably the most capable warplane of all time. We feature the legendary Mig Killer of the first Gulf War, and speak to it’s original ground crew as they attend the unveiling of their incredibly restored charge. Civil aircraft feature too – the breathtakingly beautiful, record breaking DH88 features alongside the most unlikely warbird of all time, the Cessna 02 that served in Vietnam, having started it’s life as a humble four seat training aircraft.
Series two stays close to the programme’s roots with a stunning array of world war 2 types – we fly the legendary B17 Flying Fortress, get onboard its contemporaries the B25 and B24 Liberator, and follow the incredible stories of a trio of fighters – Britain’s Hurricane, America’s heavyweight P47 Thunderbolt and the long serving yet underrated P40 Tomahawk. No list of History’s Greatest Aircraft would be complete without the Hawker Tempest, The Avro Vulcan, the C47 that led D-Day, the legendary F4 Phantom and the first stealth fighter, the F117.
Series 3
